Parma Violet Necklace

£95.00

This long line parma violet necklace in inspired by the retro sweets of the same name (mmm, my favourites!). Hand pressed discs of powdery pastel parian porcelain are interspersed with tiny purple amethysts to create super slinky movement in this everyday statement piece. Wear it long, or loop it around a couple of times for a different look.

With this series of looooong necklaces I exploring the idea of abundance and excess. I’m imagining strings of candy necklaces that are miles upon miles long, and I’m dreaming of the long uninterupted days in the studio that it would take to me make them. Well, a girl can dream! Until those days come this Parma Violet cutie is one of a kind.

Parian is a form of porcelain, named for the Greek island of Paros, known for its super fine, bright white marble. Hold on tight for the science bit… it has a more vitrified finish than standard porcelain because of its high feldspar content, which basically means it had a very dense fused structure. That means that it is super strong, so the perfect material for jewellery and it will happily endure the every-day wear and tear you expect from your high quality hand-made jewellery. Even better, because parian jewellery is ceramic, it is completely stain resistant and can be cleaned with soap and water just like your favourite mug (but don’t put your jewellery in the dishwasher!). Parian is also a vegan material, unlike some other porcelain variants which contain bone ash.
